Phoebus - Animal Welfare Hazards Portal

This geospatial portal is a demonstrator version. It provides information about environmental hazards to the welfare of grazing livestock in Australia.

This portal can be used in two ways:
  1. View the map layers, which are grouped by topic, to see animal welfare hazards on a national scale. Note that some datasets are limited to smaller regions.
  2. Generate a report of potential animal welfare hazards for a selected area. This will search available datasets and produce a summary report. Report

Why is this portal named Phoebus? Phoebus Apollo in Greek mythology was the god of light, and of herds and herdsmen. Phoebus is also a poetic term for the sun. Last but not least, there is a grey horse by the name of Phoebus, whose name coincidentally became the codename for this project
